THIS WEEKEND MARKS one year since the Irish people voted to legalise same-sex marriage.
As such, people have been taking to Twitter to share their memories and recollections of the day Ireland said yes under the hashtag #marrefmemories.
And it’s all kinds of lovely.
It was a really special day, after all.
A day on which people of all ages revealed themselves to be sound
From eight-year-olds…
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
To grandparents…
To 101-year-olds!
A day where the Mams of Ireland showed that they had our back
From accompanying us to the polling station…
To nagging us to stick up posters…
To texting to make sure we had voted…
To getting their nails done for the occasion

Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
And let’s take a moment for all the Dads who voted Yes
Thank you, Dads. You outdid yourselves this time.

Yes, it was a very emotional weekend
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
There were too many random acts of soundness to count
FAIR PLAY!
Remember when everyone came #HomeToVote?
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
Whoops!

Let’s take a moment to remember this quality tweet, shall we?
*round of applause*
This harbinger of things to come…
And the moment it was actually passed!
*pops champagne*
The elation!
The buzz!
The hugs!
Best. Day. Ever.
You did good, Ireland.
